Agrotourism (also known as agroturisme and agrotourismo) in Ibiza is all about opening up the rural areas of the island and helping to promote a different Ibiza to the one that is often portrayed.  A true agrotourism hotel must be farming the land in some capacity and the buildings must be the original farmhouse…but with all the modcons. Most agrotourism hotels are family run and rarely will a hotel have more than 10 rooms. There are over 20 agrotourism and rural hotels in Ibiza and the Xarc is an excellent example of a family owned and run rural hotel.

The Xarc Agroturisme hotel  grows apricots, almonds and oranges in the extensive farmland surrounding the hotel.  The main farmhouse building itself dates back to the early 1900’s but today it has been transformed into a boutique rural retreat.

Whilst we’re sure you will be tempted to stay around the pool we think you’ll be glad if you explore the surrounding area. Take a walk to the nearby San Lorenzo Valley, or take a hike into the forest. Location: The popular family resort of Santa Eulalia is about 5 kilometres drive.  If you want to avoid the crowds then the villages of Santa Gertrudis and San Rafael are a short drive away for a true local experience. Ibiza is a small island and yet a 15 minute drive can feel like you have travelled back in time hundreds of years.
